This Says It All

Posted by Gerald on September 10, 2007

A poll of Iraqis sponsored by the BBC, ABC News, and NHK shows that a majority of the responders believe that a) the “surge” has failed, b) attacks on American forces in Iraq are justified, and c) the US should leave now.

Most of us don’t want to be there.  They don’t want us there.  No one else wants us there.  Why in the hell are we STILL THERE!?!

    Great minds think alike.

Kid and I were talking at dinner tonight about this. She said (being a historian’s kid), “What’s the evidence that our army is helping?” and I told her that the numbers would make it appear that “violence” was dropping. However, I continued by pointing out that American number-crunchers had changed what “violence” was going to mean and had stopped counting roadside bombings and Iraqis killing each other as violent acts. “So,” she said slyly, “if I bashed you with a dictionary real hard on the head, but I had defined violence to only be kicking you in the shin, I wouldn’t get in trouble? Someone needs to tell Eric (a kid who gets into trouble at her school for acting out) this trick.”
