Article 301

Posted by Gerald on November 6, 2007

Good news.

It looks like Turkey might be reconsidering Article 301 – the law that bans insults to Turkish identity or national institutions.  This law has been used to harrass and suppress those who have called for an open discussion of the Armenian Genocide.

Hopefully the Bush administration won’t try to pass such a law here in the US.  I’m fairly certain Congress wouldn’t have the nerve to oppose it.
